Allen Frances, M.D. is currently professor emeritus and former chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, NC. He has published op-eds for The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. Frances has recently appeared on PBS’s NewsHour; on NPR and numerous regional radio stations; and in four documentaries. He has also been called on to comment for articles in Time, Wired, The New York Times, Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Economist, ABC News, among others.  He was the chairperson of the DSM-4 Task Force and part of the leadership group for DSM 3 and DSM 3 (Revised). He is the author of Saving Normal:An Insider's Revolt Against Out-of-Control Psychiatric Diagnosis, DSM-5, Big Pharma, and the Medicalization of Ordinary Life.
